Wrap-Up Expo 2012

The Gluten-Free in Florida Support Group has been proud to be a part of the very first Gluten-Free for Life Expo presented at the St Petersburg Coliseum in Florida.

Our heartfelt Thanks go out to Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery for sponsoring us at this premier event. Because of their generous gift we were able to operate in the black and therefore repeat our Expo next year.

For a first year event our Expo was a great success thanks to all of you! Prior to our Event we had 380 people pre-registered with an additional 34 children under 15 years old. On the day of the Event our Ticket Window Team sold an additional 365 tickets. And the word is already spreading about next year’s Expo. We received so many compliments and comments about our venue, the St Petersburg Coliseum, that we’re eager to work with them again for March 2013. So pencil us in 3/23/13 and plan on joining us as we do it again!

A slideshow of our day, plus many of our Vendors and incredible Speakers has been uploaded on the Website if you’d like to take a look. Our Vendors will remain listed on the site until the end of the year. We appreciate all of you for working with us in our very first event. We’d love to know your impressions of the show. If you have any suggestions we need to hear them.

We really appreciate those of you who provided product & gift certificates to help create our Raffle Baskets and to fill our Teens Tables. Our Raffle Basket Team crafted 30 beautiful baskets and sold 380 tickets. The Teens Table Team collected $265.00 in donations. Your generous contributions allowed the Gluten-Free Food Pantry to leave with a truck bed filled to overflowing with GF Food for needy families in the area. And we know the kids at Camp Weekaneatit will be happy that you helped their camp.

WOW!!  That's all I can say...WOW!!  A great big heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped out, attended, talked about and created such an incredible Gluten-Free day!!  Head count and money count is still in process...but WOW what an incredible day!!  We'll let you know as soon as we do :-)  Many of the pictures are now on the slideshow. Carolanne LeBlanc

I cannot help plan any event without the help of the support groups and St. Petersburg area support groups from Tampa, Largo, Pinellas County, & Sarasota - They were all key players in the success of an event that we had today. A 1st year event with a turnout of over 700 adults is nothing short of beautiful. Thank you to all of them :) Nikki Everett

Today was a blessed day because I had the chance to go with Melanie Rivard and her daughter Breanna to Metropolitan Ministries to bring A LOT of gluten free food donations for the Tampa Gluten Free Food Pantry. Gluten Free Friends of Tampa is thankful that so many people donated GF food donations at the GF Expo last week! We had 4 big food barrels and boxes of GF bean chips donated to the Tampa Gluten Free Food Pantry! :-) Katrina Pollack Tiller

That was a total, wonderful blast. I had a great time and also learned just how much that area needs heightened awareness such as what you are doing. Good work!! You can sign me up over and over. Hint: I am from California and always, always appreciate the chance to travel somewhere warm, even if it's only for 22 hours! :)  Thank you so much for inviting me to speak. The audience had great questions about how to maximize their health on the gluten free diet. Great job, Nikki, Carolanne and all the support team! My best, Melinda Dennis

Good Morning. What a Spectacular Event! Proud to be a part of it! Thanks and Rest up!! Mark Bogdany

I thought you might appreciate knowing my experience at the GF Expo today...I spoke to many, many people. Many were from Pinellas County and a few out of state visitors. I enjoyed it and it appeared to be a great success. Madeline Vance

You did such a great job with organizing this event!  Everyone enjoyed the event and I think that the St. Pete Coliseum was a great choice in venue! I want to thank everyone who brought non-perishable GF food donations for the Tampa Gluten Free Food Pantry!  There was a lot of food donated and I know that it will help a lot of families in need.  I will do a blog update as soon as I get the official count on how many pounds of food were donated.  Thanks again for including us in the Gluten-Free for Life Expo! Katrina Pollack Tiller

As someone used to the expo in West Palm, I found this expo to be equally as satisfying. What a fun afternoon, and I am excited to have found some new products. My daughter looks forward to these expos every year, and my non-GF boyfriend loved the lasagna that was being sold for lunch. Amanda Jesse

Absolutely wonderful expo! So many great vendors and professionals were there. The speakers were extremely informative as well. Thanks to all who put this together. You should be very proud. Your efforts delivered spectacular results! Susan Booth Chilberg

I agree, Job well done, very enjoyable!! Your hard work and efforts in putting this together were outstanding!! Cheryl Smith Wilkins

Great Expo!!! Kudos to you and you crew!!  :-) Tanya Ratner

Just back from the event a little while ago - it was fantastic and I was glad to see SO many people.  :)  I came home with a bag full of samples and coupons and other good stuff.  We tried about 3 different pizza samples that were really good.  And it was wonderful to discover that there is a Gluten-Free bakery in Sarasota!  Not too far for a ride someday, plus they plan to be at the St. Pete Farmers Mkt on Saturdays.  Great job, Diane Cicci

So excited my boys get to eat a yummy gluten free pizza right out of the oven that I didn't have to make myself from scratch. Great find from the Gluten Free for Life Expo! Two Prince Bakery Theater

As someone who often gets the ball rolling with new events, I am very flexible on the day of.  Each year the Expo is held, will no doubtly get better and better.  I enjoyed myself greatly and had a good talk with those who did come upstairs.  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak and help those who have questions.  It really is a passion of mine to help and inspire. I would love to participate again next year and look forward to the next Event. Kristen Stone

Great day!  Thanks so much, Mom and I had so much fun and also learned a lot.  Favorites- Against the Grain Gourmet's pizza and Taste of Gluten-Free's blueberry coffee cake. I don't have to eat gluten free but I do the shopping and help with meals so it's good to know what's available for Mom that we both like. Kathleen Cronin

Congratulations on such a great event and thanks for allowing me to be a part of it. Shannon Ford

Nice show!  We enjoyed it very much.  I do have a couple suggestions. On the email sent out, the address of the venue and a map, your phone number, instructions for parking and unloading.  We also were disturbed that the email said no floor banners/signs, so we didn't bring one and purchased a tabletop sign.  Thanks for the invite.  Very nicely done, Karen
